I can’t tell how excited I am when I was accepted to do my industrial training here at Sarawak Biodiversity Centre. I would like to express my highest gratitude to SBC for giving me the opportunity of doing my industrial training here. It has been the sweetest three months of my life. I was currently taking Resource Chemistry for bachelor degree in UNIMAS, and I can say that SBC is the best platform to apply your skills and learn something that is entirely new in your life.

It has been such a great experience throughout my Industrial training here at Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC). When comes to meet many super-friendly and easy going people around SBC make me feel more welcome and comfortable in this working place. I am really grateful for having this opportunity of being part of them and together help the Earth keeping the biodiversity for a better tomorrow as mention in their tagline.

Choosing a right industrial training company to attend was a very difficult decision to make. Yet what made me select Sarawak Biodiversity Centre over other institutions is mainly their focus on the discoveries of biological resources that would bring to the development of pharmaceutical drugs, nutraceutical and also herbal therapies. As a Resource Biotechnology student at the UNIMAS, I was delighted to be selected as one of the SBC’s industrial trainee.

Firstly, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) for giving me this opportunity to conduct and complete my industrial training over the last 3 months. In addition, I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to all the friendly and helpful staffs in the SBC, especially to those staff that have taught me a lot of knowledge and hand on skills.

When I first encountered SBC’s website, I was attracted towards its main focus which is preserving the nature and do something for the community especially on bioprospecting. I was excited when I received the acceptance letter from SBC to carry out my industrial training here and was attached at Microbiology laboratory as I am currently studying for a Degree in Microbiology at UKM. 

Throughout my training, I had learned many new things especially on actinomycetes and its unique morphology which is quite rare for me. Thus, the feelings of encountering rare microbes with rare morphology made me more excited in carrying out my training especially to sharpen up my (bacteria) streaking skills (onto solid media) and being able to describe the morphology of the microbes’ colony. Therefore, this training brings more interest and curiosity towards studies in the relationship between Microbiology and the Environment.
