I am taking up a Bachelor’s Degree course in Biotechnology from Universiti Malaysia, Sabah (UMS). This industrial training at the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) means a lot to me as it is the first working experience that I have had.
During my industrial training, I was attached to the Molecular Biology laboratory. As I did plant tissue culture for my final year project at UMS, I was unfamiliar with molecular work. However, I took up this challenge of learning something new.
I admit, I was rather nervous at first, but as I got to know the people working at SBC, the learning experience became more enjoyable.
I believe that this experience at SBC is an important platform for me to acquire skills and experience needed in a real work environment. I am more confident in what to expect for my future career in science.
