The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre will hold its upcoming Research and Development (R&D) Webinar scheduled on 4th December 2023 at 2.00 pm. This webinar aims to highlight the significant strides made by researchers who have obtained R&D permits under the Sarawak Biodiversity Regulations, 2016, fostering a collaborative environment for the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
The first speaker is Dr Ngieng Ngui Sing, Lecturer from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) will present his research entitled “Entomopathogenic fungi of sago worm (Rhynchoporus sp.): A potential source of active chemical constituent producer”. In his talk, he will unveil the discovery of entomopathogenic fungi as biocontrol agents and a rich source of natural products.
Meanwhile, Dr Kiew Siaw Fui, Senior Researcher at Sarawak Biovalley Pilot Plant, Miri will share the details and unravel the promising Daun Nyirik through her talk entitled “Transforming leaf waste of Phacelophrynium maximum into food additive with potential antibacterial effect”.
To conclude the webinar, Ms Siti Zaleha Raduan, Lecturer from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and a PhD student at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) will present on the medical prospect of Engkala through her research entitled “The neuroprotective effects of Litsea garciae bark extract in zebrafish Alzheimer's model.”
