Luming, Chen - Yale University

Luming, ChenAs a recent graduate from Yale University with a B.S. intensive in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, my main research interests lie in immunology, cancer, and drug discovery.

Sponsored by the Fulbright U.S. Student Award and hosted by the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), I will be undertaking a project to screen for novel anti-inflammatory natural products produced by the endophytic fungi of rainforest plants.

Many of my previous research experiences involved work with animal models and tissues, so I am excited by the opportunity to learn from the researchers at SBC and refine my knowledge of endophytic fungi and natural products.

While I have only been here for about three weeks, the warmth and kindness of everyone at SBC have already made a lasting impression.

During my time in Malaysia, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the captivating beauty of the people, culture, and biodiversity around me. I look forward to many memorable experiences and friendships.
