Webinar on “From Agreement to Action: Saving Terrapins by Partnering with Local Communities and Empowering Women”

Turtles are now the most endangered group of vertebrate animals, with more than half of their 350 species threatened with extinction. Their populations are being depleted by unsustainable harvesting and destruction of their habitats. This is also the fate of the river terrapins. River terrapins are one of the most critically endangered in the world, and Malaysia is believed to be the last stronghold of this species.

On 11th July 2023, the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) will be hosting a webinar entitled “From Agreement to Action: Saving Terrapins by Partnering with Local Communities and Empowering Women” at 10.00am. The webinar will be delivered by Dr Chen Pelf Nyok, Co-Founder, Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS). Catch the webinar by tuning into SBC's official Facebook live cast.

This session will provide an insight into the community-based river terrapin conservation project spearheaded by Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia, and efforts that are currently undertaken to save these terrapins.

Come support this call to action to learn how we can do our part in the conservation of these beautiful animals.
