In 2021, SBC partnered with Chitose Laboratory Corporation and Sarawak Energy Berhad to establish a 5-hectare Algae Production Facility.
The facility was completed and launched in 2023.
This project demonstrates a breakthrough concept: using industrial flue gas as a carbon source for microalgae cultivation.
Instead of releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, emissions can be utilised by microalgae to produce valuable biomass — turning carbon into opportunity.
SBC continues to support the operation of the facility by providing skilled manpower working alongside CLC bioengineers.
