Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, 3rd December 2024 – The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) is set to host a talk titled "Rooted in the Rainforest: Sarawak Folk Tales" on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024.
This insightful session will delve into the heart of Sarawak's rich cultural heritage through the captivating lens of folktales. Renowned author Heidi Munan will be sharing her extensive knowledge and passion for Sarawak's history, local cultures, and folklore.
Born in Switzerland and now residing in Sarawak, Heidi Munan has spent over five decades dedicated to uncovering the secrets of Sarawak's history and delving into local cultures and folklore. Her publications include research on Borneo crafts to Borneo folklore; some familiar publications are "Beads of Borneo," "Food Heritage of Sarawak: A Cultural Perspective," "Iban Stories," "Orang Ulu Stories," "Bidayuh Stories," and her latest work, "The Sartorial Heritage of Sarawak," published in 2022.
Currently the honorary curator of beads for the Sarawak Museum, Ms. Munan continues her passion for researching and preserving Borneo heritage and culture.
This exclusive talk offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from Ms. Munan, gain valuable insights into her creative process and research methods.
