SBC’s Microbial Library currently hosts a collection of 12,869 actinobacteria strains and 7,650 fungi isolated from various environmental samples collected across Sarawak. The microbial strains were cultured in various media, leading to a collection of 27,933 extracts that have been screened for bioactivity against fungi, yeast, and bacteria.
The figure above depicts the antimicrobial profile for both actinobacteria and fungi extracts screened against a panel of test strains. The test strains used are updated from time to time.
This figure shows the bioactivity profile for 647 actinobacteria and 342 fungi strains with blast homology of 99% and below (potential new species or genus). These potentially new bioactive strains are worth further investigation.
