
On 22nd October 2025, the Sarawak Biodiversity Council (SBC) and Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre (SAIC) Sdn Bhd formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
This MoU signifies a strategic collaboration to integrate biodiversity and traditional knowledge databases with AI technologies, harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to digitally transform and valorise Sarawak’s rich biodiversity assets.
The MoU exchange between Margarita Naming, Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, and Dr Patrick Then, Chief Executive Officer for Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre took place at the Startup Village of IDECS2025.
It was witnessed by YB Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development II (Talent Development), who represented Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister for Education, Innovation, and Talent Development.
