[Kuching, Sarawak] – August 21, 2025 – BioVerde Technologies Sdn Bhd (BVT), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sarawak Biodiversity Council, announces the appointment of Hazwan bin Razak as its Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 August 2025.
Hazwan, formerly General Manager of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), brings a proven track in innovation leadership and establishing startup ecosystems. Known for driving initiatives that bridge technology, sustainability, and economic inclusion, Hazwan will lead BVT’s mission to transform Sarawak’s rich biodiversity into globally competitive products and industries.
“Sarawak is at a turning point in unlocking the value of its biodiversity,” said Hazwan. “BioVerde Technologies will not just commercialise research – we will create industries, empower indigenous communities, and champion sustainability as a competitive advantage for Sarawak on the global stage.”
Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Chairman of the Sarawak Biodiversity Council, welcomed the appointment, “Hazwan’s vision and leadership will be key in connecting scientific innovation with commercial opportunity to deliver both economic and social impact.”
Founded on 12 February 2025, BVT was established to accelerate the commercialisation of innovations from the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC). Its mandate is to turn scientific discoveries and the SBC’s Natural Product Library into high-value products, services, and investment opportunities that contribute directly to Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) – particularly in the areas of innovation, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship.
BVT’s initial portfolio includes LitSara®️, AdenoSara®️, and NatureSara®️ – flagship personal care brands showcasing Sarawak’s unique indigenous botanical resources. Beyond these, BVT will spearhead the development, operation, and management, of the Sarawak Bioindustrial Park, positioning it as a catalyst for new biodiversity-based industries and regional economic growth.
