Sarawak Biodiversity Insights: featuring The Habitat & Advantages of Spiders in Tropical Rainforests by Bruce Teo

The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) will be hosting a webinar titled Sarawak Biodiversity Insights: featuring The Habitat & Advantages of Spiders in Tropical Rainforests by Bruce Teo on 19th September 2025 at 10:00 a.m.

Bruce Teo, founder of Bruce Wildlife Nature & Adventure, is a passionate nature guide, educator, and chronicler of Sarawak’s rich biodiversity. Combining his expertise in wildlife exploration with his keen eye for photography, Bruce brings the rainforest to life through engaging visuals and experiences.

In this webinar session, Bruce will share how spiders serve as vital ecosystem engineers in tropical rainforests that keep insect populations in check, support nutrient cycles, and maintain the balance within the food web. Drawing from his stunning field photography and firsthand experiences navigating Sarawak’s night forests, Bruce will paint a vivid, visually rich portrait of spider habitats, hunting behaviours, and their broader ecological significance.

Bruce’s work aligns closely with Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to conserve and showcase its unique biodiversity, particularly in tropical rainforest ecosystems that are among the most biologically rich in the world. By documenting and sharing the ecological importance of lesser-known species such as spiders, his work supports wider awareness of Sarawak’s natural heritage and reinforces the State’s mission to balance conservation with sustainable development.

Registration is free and open to all. Participants can join via Zoom by registering at https://qrco.de/SBCTALK or stream the event live on SBC’s official Facebook page: www.facebook.com/sarawak.biodiversity.centre. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with the presenter during a live Q&A session.
