Being a scholarship student at International School of Kuala Lumpur, it is rare that the opportunity for an internship, particularly one as good as SBC, is presented.
The chance to learn in the lab about genes, DNA, electrophoresis, PCR and many others new procedures and protocols including work on bacteria is rare! I was able to assist in collecting DNA hair and faeces samples of orangutans to find out their genealogy, which is still a work in progress.
To work a little with wild animals, was a thrilling opportunity! I am thankful for the amazing chance to learn from the people in the molecular biology lab at SBC; it fueled my passions to pursue my studies in science, more specifically, veterinary surgery and medicine in the future.
